Trump goes to work while Democrats snooze and here is the proof.
Under the leadership of President Donald Trump, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seen a significant surge in arrests of illegal immigrants, compared to the same time period under the Biden administration. Data from the Department of Homeland Security, as reported by Fox News Digital, reveals that from January 20 to February 8 of this year, ICE made 11,791 interior arrests, a dramatic increase from 4,969 during the same period in 2024. This represents a staggering 137% rise.
The increase in arrests is especially notable among illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds. The number of criminal aliens arrested nearly doubled, from 4,526 in 2024 to 8,993 under the Trump administration. Arrests of fugitive aliens—those evading authorities—jumped 156%, from 2,164 in 2024 to 5,538 this year. Additionally, arrests of criminal aliens held in local jails rose by 59%.
The administration has also focused heavily on gang members, including those affiliated with dangerous organizations like the Tren de Aragua, a notorious criminal group. The number of suspected gang members arrested surged by 105%, from 210 in 2024 to 430 under Trump’s leadership.
These figures underscore the Trump administration’s aggressive approach to immigration enforcement, which includes a clear focus on criminals and violent offenders. By reversing the previous administration’s restrictions, ICE agents have been empowered to conduct operations nationwide, even in so-called “sanctuary cities” that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration laws.
In line with these efforts, the administration has used federal prisons to house illegal immigrants, aiming to expand detention capacity. Guantánamo Bay has also been repurposed to accommodate up to 30,000 detainees. The Department of Justice has taken legal action against New York and Chicago over their sanctuary laws, which limit cooperation with federal authorities.
President Trump’s first days in office set the stage for these changes. He declared a national emergency at the southern border, resumed construction of the border wall, and ended the lenient policies of the Biden administration. As Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem emphasized, “We have thousands of beds in detention facilities that are open today,” making it clear that the administration is committed to keeping dangerous criminals off the streets.
Trump’s tough stance on immigration is yielding results, with reports showing a sharp decline in the number of “gotaways”—illegal immigrants who cross the border undetected. The daily average has plummeted by 93% since February, a clear sign that the Trump administration’s policies are working to secure the nation’s borders and prioritize the safety of American citizens.
