Trump isn’t backing down.
Former President Donald Trump has just sued the Pulitzer Prize board for defamation after they concluded a review conducted based on previous claims he’d made defamed him regarding Russia collusion stories.
According to The Hill, Trump has been long threatening to sue the Pulitzer Prize board after the claimed to have concluded two independent reviews requested by Trump over Pulitzers that had been given out for stories about Russian interference in 2016.
The board rejected Trump’s request to take back the awards in 2018 which were given to the The New York Times and The Washington Post. The Pulitzer Prize board justified their decision by claiming “no passages or headlines, contentions or assertions in any of the winning submissions were discredited by facts that emerged subsequent to the conferral of the prizes.”
Trump is claiming that the board acted with complete and total malice against him and tried to damage his reputation.
Trump’s lawsuit explains, “On the facts known to Defendants at the time these reviews were allegedly conducted, it would have been impossible that a single objective, thorough and independent review would have reached such a conclusion, much less two. Defendants knew this and published the Pulitzer Statement anyway.”
It is unclear if Trump will win this lawsuit however there is strong evidence that a lot of misinformation was spread across the internet about Trump from the moment he announced his first run for the presidency.
