The Trump administration is once again making headlines as it highlights its renewed focus on immigration enforcement — this time with a striking social media message from the Department of Justice.
On Thursday, the DOJ shared a stylized image featuring “Franklin,” the well-known turtle from a long-running children’s book series, reimagined as a fictional “deportation judge.” The post marked the second instance during President Donald Trump’s second term in which a senior administration official has used the character to underscore immigration policy priorities.
“Franklin is playing a role in shaping America’s future—and you can be part of it as well,” the DOJ said in a post on X. “We are seeking dedicated, patriotic attorneys to serve as Deportation Judges. This is work that will impact generations to come. Apply now.”
The graphic was designed to resemble the familiar Franklin the Turtle book covers, but with a government-themed twist. In the image, the turtle appears wearing a judge’s robe and white wig while holding a gavel beneath the title “Franklin Becomes a Deportation Judge.”

Similar Post From Defense Secretary
The DOJ post follows a similar image shared late last month by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. In that earlier post, the turtle character was shown engaging a drug-smuggling vessel — imagery intended to emphasize the administration’s commitment to border security and drug interdiction.
That image prompted a response from the Canadian publisher behind the Franklin book series, Kids Can Press, which objected to the unauthorized use of the character.
“Franklin the Turtle is a beloved Canadian icon who represents kindness and positive values,” the publisher said in a statement posted on X. “We do not support any unauthorized or altered use of the character that conflicts with those principles.”
Immigration Enforcement Takes Center Stage
Since returning to office, President Trump has made immigration enforcement a central pillar of his second-term agenda. The administration has emphasized stricter border controls, faster removal proceedings, and expanded resources for enforcement agencies.
Speaking at a rally earlier this week, President Trump addressed the flow of migrants from Somalia and other developing nations, arguing that stronger enforcement is necessary to protect public safety, preserve government resources, and restore order at the border.
Federal agencies are also taking operational steps to support the policy shift. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Wednesday that it has reached an agreement to purchase Boeing 737 aircraft to assist with deportation operations — a move officials say will improve efficiency and reduce long-term taxpayer costs.
A Message That Resonates With Supporters
While critics have taken issue with the tone of some messaging, supporters say the administration is sending a clear signal that federal immigration laws will be enforced consistently and firmly.
For many voters, particularly those concerned about border security, public safety, and national sovereignty, the administration’s messaging — mascot included — reinforces a broader promise President Trump made to voters: put America’s laws, workers, and communities first.
