About time!
President Donald Trump made history on Friday after receiving the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize, a global honor recognizing his “exceptional and extraordinary actions” in promoting peace and stability around the world. For millions of Americans who watched the Trump presidency with pride, the award was long overdue.
Trump called the moment “one of the greatest honors of my life.”
FIFA Praises Trump’s Global Leadership
At the ceremony ahead of the 2026 World Cup draw in Washington, D.C., FIFA President Gianni Infantino delivered a strong message of admiration.
“This is your prize — your peace prize,” Infantino said as he placed the gold medal in Trump’s hands.
He praised Trump as the kind of leader the world desperately needs — a leader who puts people first.
Trump then placed the medal around his own neck as the audience looked on. He was later presented with a gold trophy engraved with his name and a symbolic pair of hands lifting the world.
Trump: “We Ended Wars. We Saved Lives.”
Trump reminded attendees that during his presidency, the world was safer, America was respected, and global conflict declined.
“We saved millions and millions of lives,” Trump said. “The United States, one year ago, was not doing too well. Now we’re the hottest country anywhere in the world — and we’re going to keep it that way.”
For many conservatives, this moment highlighted what the mainstream media has refused to acknowledge: Trump’s unique ability to prevent war while promoting American strength.
A Prize Trump Didn’t Seek — But Clearly Earned
FIFA recently announced the creation of the “FIFA Peace Prize – Football Unites the World.” Trump was widely seen as the favorite, given his diplomatic record and positive relationship with Infantino.
Still, Trump said he wasn’t told in advance.
“I don’t know that I’m getting it,” he told reporters. He said he is focused on saving lives, not collecting awards: “I want to save lives — not just win prizes.”
A Star-Studded Audience — And a Viral Trump Moment
The event drew world leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. Cameras caught them seated as Trump famously danced to “YMCA”, a crowd-pleasing moment that quickly spread online.
Trump also joked about America’s naming of sports: “This is football — there’s no question,” he said, referring to soccer. “We need a new name for the other one.”
The crowd erupted.
Infantino: Trump Deserved the Nobel Peace Prize Too
Infantino had previously argued that Trump should have won the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating the Gaza cease-fire.
Instead, the prize went to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.
But Trump made it clear he doesn’t need praise from politically motivated committees:
“I settled eight wars,” he said.
A Peace Prize and Real Strength — Trump Says Both Matter
Some critics questioned whether Trump’s recent vow to target violent Venezuelan drug networks conflicted with a peace award.
Trump dismissed that idea immediately.
Peace requires strength. And Trump has never shied away from protecting Americans.
Since Sept. 2, U.S. forces have taken down 22 drug-running vessels near Venezuela and Colombia, eliminating 83 traffickers tied to deadly cartels.
Trump framed the actions as a necessary step to save American lives — the same mission that, he says, guided his presidency and continues to guide his vision for America’s future.
