About time!
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., made a bold announcement on Monday via a post on X, revealing that he would be nominating former President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. “Today I am going to nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Prize. Nobody deserves it more than he does,” Issa wrote in the tweet, showcasing his strong belief in Trump’s legacy of promoting peace.
In response to inquiries from Fox News Digital, Issa explained why he believed Trump was deserving of such an honor. He pointed to Trump’s approach of “peace through strength,” noting that no American president since Ronald Reagan had more effectively embodied the principle of securing peace through a firm and resolute stance. Issa remarked, “Not since Ronald Reagan has an American president better represented the national resolve of peace through strength or the fundamental case for a world without war.”
The congressman also emphasized that Trump’s impact on global peace was already visible. “Remarkably, it was the 2024 election of Donald Trump – more than 10 weeks before his swearing in – that tangibly kickstarted the cause of peace in numerous regions of the world, and we are already seeing the benefits.” Issa expressed hope that the Nobel Committee would recognize Trump’s efforts, asserting that the former president perfectly exemplifies the ideals the Nobel Peace Prize was meant to honor.
Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., also voiced her support for Trump’s nomination last year. She highlighted Trump’s pivotal role in securing peace agreements in the Middle East, which she described as the first new agreements in nearly three decades. In December 2024, Tenney again nominated Trump, along with Israeli leaders Netanyahu and Gallant, for their combined efforts in combatting terrorism and supporting global stability.
Issa and Tenney’s efforts reflect a growing movement among Republicans to acknowledge the remarkable peace-building achievements of President Trump.
