How Trump Can Win Midterms

This is how Trump can win.

Republicans may have a clear path to victory in the upcoming midterm elections by focusing on one issue that affects nearly every American household: the rising cost of prescription drugs.

According to Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, locking in President Donald Trump’s prescription drug pricing reforms could deliver meaningful savings for seniors and working families—while energizing voters ahead of Election Day.

Speaking Sunday on Fox News’ The Big Weekend Show, Luna said Republicans see healthcare affordability as unfinished business in Washington and a major opportunity to connect with voters frustrated by inflation and high medical costs.

“There’s still a lot more work to be done,” Luna said. “One of the biggest wins for the American people would be a Republican Congress codifying President Trump’s actions to cap prescription drug prices.”

Trump’s Drug Pricing Plan Targets Real Savings

Earlier this month, President Trump announced that several major pharmaceutical companies agreed to reduce the prices they charge Americans for prescription medications—particularly within Medicaid.

Under the agreement, drug prices in the U.S. would be aligned with what patients pay in other developed countries, ending the long-criticized practice of Americans paying significantly more for the same medications.

The pharmaceutical companies involved include Amgen, Bristol Myers Squibb, Boehringer Ingelheim, Genentech, Gilead Sciences, GSK, Merck, Novartis, and Sanofi.

What ‘Most-Favored-Nation’ Pricing Means for Seniors

As part of the deal, newly launched medications from these companies would be subject to “most-favored-nation” pricing nationwide.

That means Americans—whether using Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, or paying cash—would no longer face higher prices than patients overseas. For seniors living on fixed incomes, this could translate into hundreds or even thousands of dollars in annual savings.

Luna said making these reforms permanent could dramatically change the political landscape.

“If Republicans deliver real relief on prescription drug prices, the momentum is absolutely on our side,” she said. “That’s how we win the midterms and keep moving toward economic stability for American families.”

Why Healthcare Could Decide the Midterms

For years, Democrats have claimed an advantage on healthcare policy. Republicans now believe prescription drug reform gives them a chance to regain ground—especially with older voters hit hardest by inflation, rising insurance premiums, and out-of-pocket medical expenses.

Democrats often cite provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act, including limited Medicare drug negotiations and insulin caps for some seniors. Republicans argue those measures fall short and come with broader economic costs.

By contrast, GOP lawmakers say Trump’s approach delivers broader savings, faster relief, and stronger accountability for pharmaceutical companies.

With healthcare costs ranking among the top concerns for voters over 50, Republicans believe prescription drug pricing could become a defining issue—and a key reason they secure major gains in the midterm elections.
