In a shocking turn of events, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed in the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Washington D.C. which was formerly owned by former President Donald Trump.

According to Axios, McConnell is currently being treated for a concussion after he fell during a dinner event at the Waldorf Astoria on Wednesday.

McConnell’s communications director David Popp stated, “He is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days of observation and treatment. The Leader is grateful to the medical professionals for their care and to his colleagues for their warm wishes.”

McConnell who is 81-years-old has always walked with a limp due to him contracting a case of Polio during his childhood in 1944.

Furthermore, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is reported to have tried contacting McConnell via a phone call to wish him a speedy recovery however was not able to speak to him.

CNN’s Manu Raju reported “Many senators have reached out to McConnell but haven’t heard back yet. Most members don’t know the extent of McConnell’s injuries, including John Thune, the No. 2 Republican. “I have not talked to him directly.”
