Biden is likely furious about this.
In a surprising turn of events, Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly has just admitted that he is personally against forcing any of his employees to get vaccinated, however feels his hands are tied since Biden issued a federal mandate.
According to CNBC, Kelly stated, “I’ve never been in favor of corporations imposing that kind of a mandate. I’m not in favor of that, never have been.”
Furthermore according to the New York Post, Kelly admitted that his employees felt very strongly about taking and not taking the vaccine however now they feel like they have been silenced by Biden’s vaccine mandates.
“The executive order from President Biden mandates that all federal employees and then all federal contractors, which covers all the major airlines, have to have a mandate vaccine in place by Dec. 8 so we’re working through that,” Kelly explained.
Kelly further explained that if their workers can’t get vaccinated, they are being told to provide Southwest with medical or religious exemptions.
Currently, both Kelly and the Federal Aviation Administration claim that the vaccine mandate isn’t what caused them to ground a quarter of their flights over the weekend.
