Some GOP Veterans are not happy with Trump’s latest move.
Washington, D.C. – President Donald J. Trump is set to host a historic military parade in the nation’s capital on June 14, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army—a milestone that also coincides with the President’s birthday. The patriotic event will feature 6,700 American troops, 28 powerful tanks, and more than 50 military aircraft in a bold public display of strength and national pride.
The parade marks a significant moment in American history, honoring our men and women in uniform. But while millions of patriots across the country support the display, some veterans groups have raised concerns—fueling a media narrative that doesn’t reflect the views of many everyday Americans.
Veterans Poll Raises Eyebrows – But Who’s Behind It?
A poll released by Data for Progress—a liberal-leaning group—and Common Defense claims that 70% of veterans oppose active-duty troops marching in a parade tied to the President’s birthday. Among those allegedly opposed:
- 54% of Republican veterans
- 71% of Independent veterans
- 96% of Democratic veterans
However, many conservatives question the validity and intent of this poll, citing its partisan sponsors. With only 574 veterans surveyed, the poll hardly speaks for the over 17 million U.S. veterans who proudly served their country—and many of whom still support Trump’s America First vision.
Rand Paul Voices Concerns, But Others Say Parade Is Patriotic
Even Senator Rand Paul, R-Ky., expressed concerns about the optics of the parade, saying:
“We were always proud not to look like the Soviet Union or North Korea. I worry this kind of display may send the wrong message.”
Still, Trump supporters argue this is exactly the time to project strength, especially as global tensions rise and military morale needs a boost.
Cost of Parade Sparks Controversy—But Where Should the Money Go?
Critics say the parade’s $45 million price tag could be used elsewhere, such as VA healthcare or base repairs. But others point out that similar sums are spent on entertainment events and foreign aid every year—with far less impact on American morale.
Retired Major General Paul Eaton, a frequent media guest, compared the parade to authoritarian pageantry, saying:
“Tanks in the streets reflect totalitarian states—not American values.”
Still, many veterans and active-duty service members say this kind of thinking weakens America’s image abroad and disrespects the troops it claims to support.
Trump Administration Defends Strong Military Posture
President Trump has stood firm on strengthening national security, securing the border, and restoring the military after years of neglect. His administration has taken decisive steps—from deploying National Guard troops to cracking down on illegal immigration and fixing broken systems at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
And while critics complain about “militarization,” many voters see this as a return to American leadership, strength, and patriotic tradition.
Protests Planned, But Trump’s Base Remains Energized
Left-wing groups plan over 1,800 protests nationwide on June 14, attempting to overshadow the celebration. But millions of Americans are expected to tune in and show support for our military, our Constitution, and our President.
Bottom Line:
This June 14 military parade is more than a political talking point—it’s a statement of American pride, military strength, and constitutional values. As President Trump continues to put America first, many veterans and patriots believe now is the right time to honor the Armed Forces in full view of the American people.
