Always remember, America first!
The CEO of Nucor Corporation, America’s largest steel producer, has voiced strong support for President Donald Trump’s tariffs targeting China, Mexico, and Canada. In a statement shared with Fox News Digital, Leon J. Topalian, Nucor’s Chairman and CEO, expressed approval for Trump’s America First Trade Agenda, highlighting that the company is eager to work alongside the President to uphold U.S. trade laws and reinforce American manufacturing.
“Nucor applauds the steps taken by President Trump to protect American industries,” Topalian stated. “We look forward to collaborating with the administration to stop unfair trade practices and boost U.S. manufacturing.” Nucor, based in North Carolina, is not only the nation’s largest steel producer but also a major recycler of scrap metal.
Topalian has previously praised Trump’s tariff policies, specifically for addressing issues like currency manipulation and the subsidization of foreign steel. Speaking on CNBC, he emphasized the importance of tariffs in curbing the illegal dumping of foreign steel into the U.S. market. “We are the largest steel producer in North America, and we are fully committed to keeping American industry competitive,” Topalian explained. He added that the tariffs would have far-reaching effects, aiming to stop foreign governments from unfairly subsidizing their steel industries.
In response to growing concerns over illegal immigration and criminal activity, President Trump signed an executive order imposing 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Mexico and Canada and a 10% tariff on Chinese goods. The order, effective immediately, cited the significant threats posed by illegal drugs, human trafficking, and the overall security challenges posed by these nations.
While foreign leaders like Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum criticized the tariffs, Trump defended them, underscoring Canada’s unfair trade practices, particularly in sectors like banking and energy. “For years, Canada has taken advantage of the U.S.,” Trump said, pointing out how Canada has restricted American businesses from entering certain sectors.
This move aligns with Trump’s broader stance on prioritizing American interests in trade, aiming to level the playing field for U.S. industries. The imposition of these tariffs is part of a broader strategy to push back against unfair trade practices and strengthen the American economy.
