A new rift is shaking Washington.
Conservatives Draw the Line as Marjorie Taylor Greene Turns on Her Own
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) broke his silence Wednesday and blasted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) — saying she’s drifting far from conservative values and warning Americans to stop taking her seriously.
Speaking on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Cruz didn’t hold back.
“What I’ve found is that whenever an elected official turns on Israel and starts attacking our closest ally, every other position they take suddenly becomes liberal,” Cruz said. “Now Marjorie’s for massive spending, higher taxes, open borders, and amnesty. That’s not where the American people are.”
He added that the country is “on Day 29 of the stupidest shutdown in history” and said Republicans need to focus on results — not political showmanship.
Republican Leaders Push Back Hard
Cruz’s comments came just hours after Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) urged Greene to stop attacking House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and start offering solutions.
“If she’s passionate about something, write a bill. Don’t just criticize others doing the hard work,” Moreno said during a CNN appearance.
Greene had recently accused Speaker Johnson of “hiding” the GOP’s health-care plan, claiming he refused to present any alternative to Obamacare.
“Apparently, I have to go into a SCIF just to find out the Republican healthcare plan!” she fumed on X (formerly Twitter).
The Israel Controversy That Sparked It All
Greene’s relationship with the GOP establishment soured earlier this year after she called Israel’s response to Hamas a “genocide” — a statement that shocked even her allies. She went further, accusing AIPAC of acting as a foreign lobbyist.
“Israel isn’t hurting. They’ve shown they can annihilate their enemies — that’s what’s happening in Gaza,” Greene said on One America News with former Rep. Matt Gaetz.
Those remarks drew widespread condemnation from fellow Republicans, who said her words crossed a moral and political line.
Cruz: “Greene’s Chaos Helps the Democrats”
This isn’t the first time Cruz has taken issue with Greene.
Back in May, he called her push to oust Speaker Johnson “silly” and “destructive.”
“Trying to topple the Speaker creates chaos and helps the Democrats,” Cruz warned on RealClearPolitics radio. “There’s zero chance that a more conservative Speaker will replace him. What she’s doing is unhelpful to the country.”
GOP’s Message: Enough Division — It’s Time to Lead
As President Donald Trump and top Republicans unite ahead of 2026, the message from party leadership is crystal clear: the GOP must stay focused on protecting America, rebuilding the economy, and securing the border — not fighting each other.
Even some of Greene’s former allies now say her focus on personal feuds and social-media outrage is hurting the conservative cause.
The Republican Party is rallying around Trump’s leadership — and leaving behind those more interested in attention than action.
