Trump Hit With Another Impeachment

Democrats should be ashamed of themselves.

House Democrats once again failed Thursday in an effort to impeach President Donald Trump, as a surprise impeachment push collapsed almost immediately on the House floor.

Lawmakers voted decisively to table an impeachment resolution introduced by Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), effectively shutting down the latest attempt to revive impeachment politics against President Trump. The Republican motion to table the resolution passed by a wide margin of 237–140, ending the effort before it could advance.

Notably, the vote exposed deep divisions within the Democratic caucus itself. Forty-seven Democrats voted “present,” while 23 Democrats joined Republicans in voting to table the resolution outright — a clear signal that even Democratic leadership was unwilling to back the move.

A Familiar Impeachment Push Falls Flat

Rep. Green, a long-time advocate of impeaching President Trump dating back to his first term, used a procedural maneuver known as a privileged resolution to force an immediate House vote. The move bypassed hearings, investigations, or committee review.

The resolution, filed just one day earlier, included two articles of impeachment aimed at President Trump.

What the Impeachment Articles Alleged

The first article accused President Trump of abusing presidential power based on a Truth Social post responding to a video released by several Democratic lawmakers. In that video, the lawmakers suggested that members of the U.S. military could ignore unlawful orders.

President Trump responded by labeling such actions “seditious,” noting that sedition has historically carried severe penalties. The White House later clarified the president’s remarks, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stating clearly that Trump was not calling for the execution of any members of Congress.

The second article focused on President Trump’s public criticism of federal judges who issued rulings against his administration. The resolution cited Trump’s sharp language toward certain judges and attempted to connect it to broader concerns about judicial independence.

Supporters of the impeachment effort also referenced comments from Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson regarding threats against judges, though no direct link to Trump was established during the vote.

Democratic Leaders Refuse to Support the Effort

Perhaps the most damaging development for the impeachment push was the refusal of top House Democrats to support it.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Minority Whip Katherine Clark, and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar announced ahead of the vote that they would vote “present” rather than endorse the resolution.

In a joint statement, the Democratic leaders acknowledged that impeachment is a serious constitutional mechanism — but said this effort failed to meet that standard.

They argued that impeachment typically requires extensive investigations, document reviews, witness testimony, and public hearings — none of which occurred in this case. Without that groundwork, they declined to back Green’s motion.

Another Impeachment Attempt Ends Quickly

For many conservatives, Thursday’s vote reinforced growing public fatigue with impeachment politics. Despite years of threats and repeated efforts, impeachment attempts against President Trump continue to stall — sometimes even without full support from Democrats themselves.

The lopsided vote also underscored President Trump’s continued political strength in Washington, as impeachment efforts increasingly struggle to gain momentum or credibility.

As the political landscape continues to shift, the failed impeachment push served as yet another reminder that impeachment rhetoric against President Trump is losing its impact — both on Capitol Hill and with voters across the country.
