Trump cleared up the rumors.

President Trump has once again doubled down on his efforts to drain the swamp in Washington, this time with the help of tech mogul Elon Musk. During a recent interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, Trump expressed his trust in Musk’s ability to reform the federal government and reiterated his plans to tackle wasteful spending in key areas like the Department of Education and the Pentagon.

“I ran on this,” Trump stated, referring to his longstanding commitment to eliminating government waste. “I’ve had great help with Elon Musk, who’s been fantastic.” The President praised Musk’s relentless work ethic and his dedication to cutting unnecessary costs in the federal bureaucracy. Despite some critics suggesting that Musk and Trump might clash due to their larger-than-life personalities, Trump assured Baier that Musk’s focus on government efficiency is sincere and independent of any personal gain.

Musk has been entrusted with overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a temporary body created to audit federal agencies and cut down on waste. Under Musk’s direction, the DOGE team has targeted agencies like the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), uncovering inefficiencies and questionable spending that conservatives have lauded. The president confirmed that Musk’s next assignments include investigating the Department of Education and the military, where he believes billions of taxpayer dollars are being wasted.

Trump reaffirmed that rooting out waste and fraud was a key part of his campaign platform. “We’re going to find hundreds of billions of dollars of waste, fraud, and abuse,” Trump emphasized. He also noted that Musk has been following his executive orders, including ones aimed at dismantling costly and unnecessary programs like diversity initiatives and foreign aid.

Despite legal challenges to the initiative, including court blocks on DOGE’s access to payment systems and workforce changes at USAID, Trump and Musk are pushing forward with their plan to reform Washington’s bloated bureaucracy. As National Security Adviser Mike Waltz noted, there is an urgent need to realign U.S. government spending with the president’s vision, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and in service of the nation’s best interests.

The battle to cut wasteful government spending is gaining momentum, and with Elon Musk’s support, President Trump is demonstrating his commitment to bringing real change to the federal government. While Democrats and critics may push back, Trump’s focus remains clear: draining the swamp and ensuring that American taxpayers aren’t left footing the bill for inefficiency and fraud.
