Trump is sending a clear message to the world: America is back.
On Saturday, President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered U.S. military airstrikes in Somalia, resulting in the death of a senior ISIS attack planner along with other terrorists recruited by him. The targeted airstrikes come just weeks after an ISIS-inspired attack in New Orleans, where a terrorist killed 14 people and injured dozens more by driving a truck into a crowd celebrating New Year’s Eve.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared that these terrorists, who had been hiding in caves, posed a direct threat to the United States and its allies. The strikes reportedly destroyed the caves the terrorists were operating from, and Trump assured that there were no civilian casualties. “Our military has been targeting this ISIS planner for years, but under Biden, nothing was done swiftly. I got the job done!” Trump asserted.
The message, Trump emphasized, is clear: the U.S. will relentlessly pursue terrorists and eliminate those who plot to harm Americans. “We WILL find you, and we WILL kill you!” he wrote.
While the exact number of casualties remains unclear, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that U.S. Africa Command, in coordination with the Somali government, carried out the strikes. Hegseth stated, “Our initial assessment is that multiple operatives were killed, and no civilians were harmed. This strike weakens ISIS’s ability to conduct future attacks.”
The Somali government also welcomed the strikes, with an official noting that Somalia cannot become a safe haven for terrorists. While airstrikes in Somalia have been a consistent tactic for years under both Republican and Democratic administrations, Trump’s action underscores the strong stance his administration took against terrorism.
The message from this successful operation is unmistakable: America will continue to hunt down and eliminate any group that threatens our citizens, while also safeguarding our borders at home.
