What is McConnell thinking?
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has decided to cast dark clouds over the Republican party by suggest that most of Trump’s endorsed candidates are somehow now fit to work in Congress because he believes they are low “quality.”
The GOP voter base needs to be fired up ahead of the midterms and McConnell appears to be doing everything except that with his back-handed comments.
According to Fox, McConnell cast doubt over Trump-endorsed candidates and said, “I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate. Senate races are just different, they’re statewide. Candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.”
McConnell added, “Right now, we have a 50-50 Senate and a 50-50 country, but I think when all is said and done this fall, we’re likely to have an extremely close Senate. Either our side up slightly or their side up slightly.”
It appears that McConnell is still holding a grudge against Trump and is now attacking his candidates. McConnell seems scared that Trump is shaping the Republican Party in his favor and is likely scared that his grip on the GOP is fading quickly.
Very selfish behavior.
