Lock her up!
Remember in 2021 when Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez decided to attend the Met Gala to send a “message” to Republicans? Well now it looks like she may have made a major mistake going the event because she could have broken federal law doing so.
According to the Washington Examiner, there is now “substantial reason to believe” that Ocasio-Cortez took “impermissible gifts” when she attended the Met Gala says the Office of Congressional Ethics which could mean she broke federal law.
What’s even worse for AOC is that the nonpartisan watchdog’s board just voted 5-0 in favor of the House continuing their investigation into Ocasio-Cortez.
Republicans are now asking if Ocasio-Cortez’s ticket to the $35,000-a-plate gala was even allowed to be accepted under House rules.
What’s even more ironic about all of this is that Ocasio-Cortez tried to “own the Capitalists” by wearing a white dress with the words “Tax the Rich” written on it with big red letters.
A spokeswoman for Ocasio-Cortez defended her actions and said, “Even after OCE’s exhaustive review of the Congresswoman’s personal communications, there is no record of the Congresswoman refusing to pay for these expenses. To the contrary, there are several explicit, documented communications, from prior to OCE’s review, that show the Congresswoman fully understood that she had to pay for these expenses from her own personal funds — as she ultimately did.”
