Video: Trump Sets Obnoxious Reporter Straight

President Donald Trump had a fiery exchange with a reporter during a weekend press gaggle, sharply criticizing what he described as an “obnoxious” question while also taking aim at ABC News over its past coverage of him.

The moment occurred Sunday aboard Air Force One as Trump returned to Washington, D.C., after spending the weekend at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

The exchange quickly gained attention online as the president pushed back against questions about U.S. military deployments and media coverage of his administration.

Trump Pushes Back On Question About Middle East Troops

During the press briefing, a reporter asked Trump to explain reports that thousands of U.S. Marines and Navy personnel were being sent to the Middle East as tensions continue to rise amid the ongoing war involving Iran.

Before answering, Trump appeared frustrated with the tone of the question and quickly addressed the reporter directly.

“You’re a very obnoxious person,” Trump said, before moving on to another journalist.

The president did not elaborate further on troop movements during that moment, instead choosing to take questions from other members of the press pool.

Military deployments in the region have been a growing topic of discussion as the United States works with allies to maintain stability in key strategic areas.

Question About Fundraising Email Sparks Tension

Earlier in the exchange, the same reporter asked Trump about a fundraising email sent by a pro-Trump political action committee.

The message reportedly included a photo of Trump wearing a baseball cap during a dignified transfer ceremony, which honors American service members who lost their lives in the war with Iran.

The reporter asked the president whether using that image in a political fundraising email was “appropriate.”

Trump responded by emphasizing that he had personally attended the ceremony to honor fallen troops.

“I was at the dignified transfer, unlike a lot of other people,” Trump said.

When pressed further about the email itself, the president explained that he had not personally reviewed the message.

“I didn’t see it,” Trump said. “We have a lot of people working for us.”

Trump then pointed to what he described as his strong support from military families and service members.

“There is nobody that’s better to the military than me,” the president said. “Look at the election results. Look at the kind of votes that we get. Look at the poll numbers.”

Trump Criticizes ABC News Coverage

The exchange escalated when Trump asked the reporter which media organization she represented.

When she responded ABC News, Trump sharply criticized the network’s reporting.

“One of the worst, most fake, most corrupt,” Trump said. “ABC News—I think it’s maybe the most corrupt news organization on the planet.”

Trump then ended the interaction by declining to take further questions from the outlet.

“I don’t want any more from ABC News,” he said.

ABC News did not immediately respond to requests for comment following the exchange.

Background: Trump’s Legal Battle With ABC

The tense moment also comes after a high-profile legal dispute between Trump and the network in 2024.

Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against ABC News and anchor George Stephanopoulos after Stephanopoulos stated during an interview that Trump had been found “liable for rape” in a civil case.

Trump argued that the statement misrepresented the court’s findings.

The case was eventually resolved when ABC News and Stephanopoulos agreed to a $15 million settlement.

The dispute added to a long-running conflict between Trump and several major media organizations over coverage of his presidency and political career.

Trump Warns About AI-Generated Propaganda

During the same press gaggle, Trump also warned that AI-generated misinformation and fabricated reports were being circulated by sources connected to Iran.

The president cautioned Americans to be careful about information circulating online during the conflict.

Trump said the U.S. government is closely monitoring foreign propaganda efforts and working to counter misleading narratives related to the war.

Trump Sends Message To NATO Allies

Trump also addressed the role of NATO allies in protecting the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping routes for oil and global trade.

The president suggested that NATO nations should support the United States in maintaining security in the region.

Failure to do so, he warned, could lead to serious consequences for global stability.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical chokepoint for international energy supplies, and tensions in the region have placed increased attention on military cooperation between the U.S. and its allies.
