Ocasio-Cortez Accuses Trump of What?

AOC is losing her mind.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) recently took aim at former President Donald Trump over his handling of trade relations with Colombia, claiming his actions would only worsen inflation for American consumers. She argued that, in an attempt to punish Colombia for blocking U.S. repatriation flights carrying illegal immigrants, Trump’s move to impose higher tariffs would drive up costs for everyday goods—particularly coffee, a staple imported from Colombia. Ocasio-Cortez suggested that, rather than improving the economy, Trump’s policies would hurt working-class Americans by raising prices, while benefiting wealthy elites.

This critique came after Trump expressed his frustration on social media over Colombia’s decision to block two U.S. flights carrying illegal immigrants. The former president accused Colombia’s socialist president, Gustavo Petro, of jeopardizing U.S. national security and public safety by refusing to accept the repatriation of criminals. In response, Trump announced he would impose a 25% tariff on Colombian goods, including coffee, and ban travel for Colombian officials as a form of retaliation.

In turn, President Petro reacted by raising tariffs on U.S. imports, citing the escalating tensions. Petro’s move added fuel to the fire, potentially making American consumers face higher costs for Colombian products.

Despite this, the White House later confirmed that an agreement had been reached between the U.S. and Colombia. According to a statement from White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Colombia had agreed to accept all U.S. deportees, including those flown in on military aircraft, without delay.

Trump’s approach to foreign policy and trade has always focused on putting American interests first—lowering costs and securing the border. While Ocasio-Cortez criticized his tough stance, it’s clear that his priorities remain centered on reducing burdens on American workers, not expanding foreign entanglements.
